MARIAN at the 124th AES Convention in Amsterdam - Impressions

This AES Convention was a complete success for MARIAN. New products and technologies were introduced. Amongst others, an AES42 solution for digital microphones, a new sound card series based on PCI Express and a new latency-free DSP mixing and effects technology, which is integrated in new products. Numerous cordial chats with with much positive and interesting feedback show the high acceptance and the huge interest in MARIAN products and technologies in the field of professional audio.

It’s an exciting year with an exciting exhibition. Interesting news in the field of audio can be expected everywhere – also at MARIAN.

Mac Beta Tester Program started
The development of the "One-for-All" driver for Apple Mac's, which supports all MARIAN Sound Systems, has come to a
point where we would like to ask you to get involved. The first supported sound system is our classic - the Marc 8

UCON and Trace PRO in Audio Media Review
BBC editor and Pro Audio specialist Alistair McGhee gave a rave review of Trace PRO and UCON CX in the
January issue
of the Audio Media Magazin and praised the "Unsung Heroes of Sound Sard Production".
UCON CX: "Most of the USB devices I have tried (even very, very expensive ones) have suffered from induced noise problems, usually related to mouse movements.
The other problem that has dogged some USB interfaces is earthing issues resulting in hum on the outputs. The Ucon CX suffered from none of these problems on the laptop and desktop I tried it on.
... Tweaking the latency down to 3ms (@44.1kHz) is possible on my fairly run of the mill Core 2 Duo machine ..."

New Development Kits for MARIAN systems
For developers of audio applications there are new development kits available.
These kits allow the programming of applications, who show and control all audio settings and signal levels within the
DSP mixer and the output control of the Trace Series Sound Systems and the Marc X.

MARIAN releases the Breakout Box for the PCI cards Trace D4 and Trace D4 SRC. the optional Breakout Box Box provides eight balanced XLR ports
for the AES/EBU in and outputs. The angle brackets can be connected either at the front or at the back of the robust metal box.
Therefore you can choose on which side of the rack you want the XLR ports.
Using the included SUB D cable the box can be connected to the Trace D4 or Trace D4 SRC audiosystem.
You can connect the cable on both sides of the BreakoutBox - so if you have all XLR ports at the
front you could have the SUB D cabel "hidden" at the back.

Audio/MIDI systems with the latest technology to meet highest demands on sound, latency, features, reliability and an outstanding
price-perfomance ratio. The PCI card stays in the tradition of the well-known Marc 8 MIDI (Siena).
Features: The TRACE 8 provides eight analog inputs and eight analog outputs with up to 192 kHz.

UCON CX - Live on tour with reggae superstar Gentleman and the FAR EAST BAND.
Gentleman concerts are outstanding events. The exceptional artist not only filled big halls in his last years tour across Germany.
The national tour was completed by a successful European tour and concerts around the globe, e. g. in the USA.
Gentleman is accompanied by the FAR EAST BAND, formed by musicians from Leipzig, Cologne and Berlin (Far East Band).
The band members also contributed some Riddims to Gentlemans bestselling album "Confidence".
Andreas Wendland - the Far East Bands guitar player - brought the UCON CX into action. The compact multi talent was continuously working in the background of the tour.

Besides the hardware integrated DSP Mixer with Totall Recall the new TRACE family offers

Marian Audio systems in the production of Route 66 - the worlds first "Open source movie"
Route 66: Legendary highway from coast to coast in the USA. 6500 miles, endless horizon and the overwhelming feeling of motorized freedom.
The 104 minutes movie - made by the crew of VEB Film Leipzig - shows the journey of three young Germans from Saxony with camera and an infirm, but legendary Cadillac
Modell 74 through america. 6500 miles from San Diego, Washington and New York to Los Angeles. The roadmovie convinces the viewer with optical and acustical qualities. The sound and the
special composed soundtrack were produced in 5.1 surround.
The special feature: The movie is declared as Open Source.
The final movie and the complete source material - pictures, effects, sounds, music - are free and could be shared freely. "Route 66" is also available on DVD,
there is the book to the movie and the soundtrack is licence free - all the cost price.
The crew used several Marian Marc 8 audio systems in the production of the soundtrack and in the complete audio post production. Sound specialist and movie composer
Thomas P. Bechhold says: "the system delivers an outstanding sound quality and dynamic, without noise level and is especially not expensive."

The UCON CX audio system is now being shipped!
The latest member of the Marian product family is a 16-channel, high compact, all round audio and MIDI interface for the USB 2.0 high speed bus.
The UCON CX audio system is severally cascade able, hot-plug capable and not only perfect as the main studio unit but especially for mobile use, e.g.
