Features
The Beast
Analog-Style Mixing
The Beast DSP mixer is integrated into the hardware of every Seraph and Clara sound system. This provides latency-free routing, EQ processing, pre/post aux summing and many other functions for all input signals and also the playback signals from the DAW, just like in an analog mixer.
In the space of only one PCIe slot width, the Clara A/D provides the connection for 32 audio channels. The balanced analog inputs and outputs are located on the motherboard. The digital AES/EBU connections, on the other hand, break out on a D-Sub connector without further active electronics. Consequently, it can freely be placed in the computer’s case, separately from the motherboard. Or it may take any place next to other PCIe components with the slot bracket.
When the computer is started and the sound system is initialized, the analogue outputs are muted. This auto-mute function protects connected equipment and ears from peak levels.
Highest audio quality for analog and digital signals
With 115 dB dynamic range and a THD+N of less than 0.001% at -1 dBfs, the analog connections of the Seraph AD8 MKII play in the top sound league. A hefty level of +15 dBu provides enough headroom at the inputs and sufficient signal at the outputs for any connected device. Analog and digital processing is 24 Bit and 192 kHz throughout, with no restrictions on the number of channels.
Realtime Routing, Mixing and EQ
Each input signal of the sound system can be adjusted in volume and routed latency-free to any output. The BEAST DSP mixer also sums up to 64 signals to 8 different busses and plays them back on any number of outputs without delay. Furthermore, the BEAST Mixer adds playback signals from any DAW. All mix sums can be fed back to an application for recording. In each channel of the BEAST mixer there are 4 parametric EQ available for sonic processing.
Precision Clock
The internal clocking of the Clara sound system offers an incredibly low jitter of less than a nanosecond. This means that it often has a much better clock than the other connected devices in the studio and can therefore be used without concern instead of expensive external clocks to synchronize these external devices.
Switchable Samplerate Converter (SRC)
The SRCs, which can be switched on via software, allow any digital input signal to be fed into the sound system regardless of samplerate and clock settings. Thus, even without separate synchronization lines, any digital devices may be connected effortlessly.
Expansion options
If several Clara are installed in one computer, they are synchronized via the TDM SyncBus and appear as a combined sound system to an ASIO application. In the Beast Mixer, up to 32 audio signals can be exchanged directly with the other connected Clara sound systems.
Sound system with a +
The “+” version includes an extension that adds a word clock input and output and 2 MIDI inputs and outputs to the sound system. This expansion card is connected to the sound card via a ribbon cable and may then be freely positioned in one of the slots of the computer housing.
Fast and Reliable Multi-Client Treiber Suite
The continuously enhanced driver includes multi-client support for ASIO 2.2 as well as multi-channel WDM audio / WASAPI with the lowest latencies in all software environments. This ensures that multiple audio applications can access the sound system simultaneously via the same or different driver interfaces.
Powerful and Future-Proof
This sound system is a quality product developed 100% in Germany and manufactured according to DIN EN ISO 9001. This is guaranteed by its warranty period of 5 years.
